Something to think about

1/1/11

I abandoned this blog when I went back to work full time. Not intentionally, I just got busy, distracted, then I started to lose interest, then I just forgot. I was reading it again recently, though, and it made me a little sad. I seemed like a happier, more hopeful person then. I realized I need to find that girl again. So, today I will revive this blog, and my spirit. This new year holds such promise...

This year I will again -- like others of my "tribe"-- choose a word for the coming year - a guide, a touchstone. I usually choose words like "joy", "peace", "hope", but this year, after much thought, I chose the word BLOOM. I want to "bloom" in every aspect of my life. Who can I really be if I put my whole heart into it? ....... Happy New Year! ~k

Oh, Yes I Did

I've been looking at this cover for a few days and decided to just give in! (nectarines and blueberries - yum!)

(OK, I did cheat a little)

It was a hit! A bit tart rather than super sweet, and just right served with a little whipped cream.

Summer Break

Day one of Summer Break:

Loads of laundry done (and put away!) -- 6
Bunnies in the yard today -- 5
Kids singing Christmas carols (huh?!) -- 4
Times I ran the dishwasher (full) -- 3
Loaves of banana bread baked -- 2
Loaves of banana bread left -- 1
Craft room organized -- 1/2 (at best!)

All in all, a good day. Slept in, got some things done, talked about the summer fun we are looking forward to. Things like craft projects, Bible school, birthday parties, swimming lessons, camping , fishing, the County Fair. Ahhh, it's gonna be a good one.

Are You Kidding?!

It is April, right? Spring showers, May flowers, and all of that? Well, this morning there is frost on my lawn, AND last week we had SNOW on and off for several days!

Hmmm......must be global warming.

Well, at least I have a bit of spring inside ...

This is a sweet cagelet made for me by DivaDeb .

Sooo delicate, like spun sugar.

With a whisper of inspiration every day.

Thank you Miss D. I adore it!

I met up with Deb at Flourishes a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely time selecting goodies to take home and admiring the ones I'll come back for next time!

Here is one such lovely that I HAD to have!

Made by the one and ONLY Tammy Gilley whom I also had the good fortune of meeting up with at Flourishes! The three of us, plus Deb's "Mr. Deb", enjoyed a chatty, savory lunch full of stories and belly laughs!

Tammy is featured this month at InspiredIdeas , Amy Power's online magazine! Go see it all for yourself -- truly, sunshine on a cloudy day!

Seeing Green

Yes, it's that time of year again. Girl Scout Cookie time! You may have already noticed!

This activity allows the members to take an active part in raising funds for thier troop and other troops in their area. But, it is also a great way for them to practice those social skills that are needed in everday life.

So, this week, when you see the Brownies and Girl Scouts out with these treats, support and encourage them and they will surely return the favor!
